RESEARCH INNOVATION:
INVESTIGATING MINDSET CLUSTERS
Throughout the Culture Change Project, we’ve been tracking movement on
mindsets over time. This year, we’re looking more deeply into the relationship
between mindsets, and what that might mean for culture change strategy.
WHAT ARE MINDSET CLUSTERS?
We’re already finding that some mindsets cluster together—like Individualism,
Meritocracy, and Market Naturalism—for example. Within each cluster, the
more strongly people endorse one mindset, the more strongly they endorse
others in that cluster.
HOW ARE WE MONITORING THEM?
We’ve already been looking into patterns of correlation between mindsets to
identify clusters. Lately, we’ve started using predictive modeling to see if a
particular mindset or group of mindsets is driving shifts in that cluster.
WHY DO CLUSTERS MATTER?
Understanding which mindset (or group)
is driving shifts within a cluster allows us
to pinpoint where to pay the most
attention, as it indicates where different
fields can work together to address that
particular mindset, which may spark
change across multiple issues.
